Smart Mug is a safer alternative since it will heat liquids to a user defined temperature anywhere from 85 to 160 degrees when plugged into your car’s 12-volt adapter. I’m not sure if will work on standard AC since an adapter is not included but I assume it must.
Once your desired temperature has been reached an alert will sound letting you know your piping hot beverage is ready to drink. There’s even a small LCD display on the outside of the mug that monitors and displays the temperature of the liquid at all times just in case. And while the outside probably needs to be carefully hand-washed the inner mug that actually holds your beverage is removable and dishwasher safe.
The Smart Mug is currently available from Gifts and Gadgets Online in red or blue for $25.

Toshiba has announced plans to ship an organic electroluminescence display (OEL, or more commonly known as OLED) in 2009. Their target size will be 30 inches, which beats most manufacturers’, including Sony’s prototypes. Toshiba does not plan to directly compete with the current technology leader, LCD. They do however expect that the OLED technology’s superiority, which includes better viewing angles and contrast (1million:1 anyone?), not to mention lower manufacturing costs, will be recognized as the production volume goes up.
Toshiba had previously planned 2015 as the launch window for OEL, which would put them in the time frame of other technologies like SED and FED displays. We’ll have to wait, but once these displays are released we’ll have an expanded amount of places to mount the screens as they’re paper-thin.
