We’re not planning on seeing any sort of confirmation from Sprint on this, but word on the street has it that the carrier has actually halted shipments of the LG Rumor to its retail outlets. Apparently, the handset has a “known issue where certain sets of key presses during startup can trigger a complete erasure of the phone’s firmware.†Purportedly, the device cannot be restored once triggered save for at the factory, but LG is hard at work creating an updated firmware that “removes the code from being accessible.†Once that’s completed and approved, existing users can expect an over-the-air download to be made available, and users to-be can expect the mobiles to start showing back up with the update already loaded on.

It’s been a tick since we saw the oh-so-snazzy RoverPC G5, and we must say, the RoverPC P6 cranks up the sexy by a few orders of magnitude. The Windows Mobile 6-based handset, which is sure to make those not in Russian mighty envious, sports a 300MHz Samsung 2442B processor, a 2.4-inch 320 x 240 resolution touchscreen, 64MB of RAM, 128MB of Flash ROM, a microSD expansion slot, Bluetooth, miniUSB, a 2-megapixel camera and a built-in media player to boot. Additionally, the phone checks in at just 15.1-millimeters thick, rocks a dark gray motif and touts tri-band GSM connectivity. So go on, pick one up for around 7990 rubles ($323) — just don’t rub it in when you do, alright?

Samsung’s new P720 and F490 handsets already made themselves known at a recent press event in the Ukraine but, given that we unfortunately couldn’t make the trek there ourselves, we didn’t exactly get that great a look at ‘em. Now thanks to the folks at Mobile-Notes, however, we’ve got some better pics of each of the handsets, along with a video that shows them off from every angle (check it out after the break). In case you missed the original announcement, the P720 and F490 pack 3 and 5-megapixel cameras respectively, along with dual SIM card slots on the former and a 432 x 240 touchscreen on the former. Both will also be available in the first half of next year, with the F490 trickling out sometime in the first quarter for $600, and the P720 following in Q2 for $500.

In its domestic Korean market, the IM-S300 slider from Pantech’s SKY division is apparently being touted as the “Romantic Wave,†and we guess we’re hard pressed to disagree. The wavy buttons front and center look really cool — usability aside, of course — though the 1.3 megapixel cam leads us to believe that physical design is where the high-endedness ends on this one. If you happen to be around Seoul, grab it for something in the range of 400,000 won (about $430) in black or white (with pink accents, no less).

Oh, we get it, the oranges are in the picture because the phone has orange on it! Funny. Anyhoo, LG’s KH1800 will never see the light of day outside South Korea — at least, not in this exact form — but for the domestic folk, you get a 13.3mm thick slider with a flashy color scheme, global 3G roaming, built-in dictionary, media player, and some sort of aluminum finish. Look for it next month for 352,000 won (about $375) and expect a silver version to also be available.
