Eizo’s back with a new 24-inch Flexscan SX2461W-U monitor for the colorblind color-weak chromatically sight challenged interpeoples. It chews the same CUD (Color Universal Design) technology of their 19-incher which uses shapes, positions, patterns, and so on to communicate color information back to the user. The monitor itself is capable of 92% color reproduction on a 1,920 x 1200 panel with 850:1 contrast and 300cd/m2 brightness. It will source input from a pair of HDCP-enabled DVI jacks while passing USB back to your PC with a pair of USB 2.0 ports. Available in Japan starting December 6 for ¥136,000 or about $1,047 of the green stuff, or blue stuff, depending.

We’ve seen MacBooks re-purposed for various uses in the past, but never quite like Siemens new “P50″ laptop, which takes a standard issue (if slightly outdated) MacBook Pro and outfits it with some ultrasound equipment to accomodate doctors that just can’t be tied down. Apparently designed specifically for cardiology and vascular applications, this one boasts an “array of transducers,” along with an integrated stress echo function and a range of cardiology application packages which, Siemens says, “considerably simplifies and accelerates the workflow in echocardiography and vascular diagnosis.” Mac fans may not want to boast too much about this one, however, as it seems that Siemens has opted to use Windows as a basis for the platform.

Thar she blows! Dell’s mysterious XPS M1530 is up live and dancing on Dell’s Singapore site. With any luck, she’ll be struttin’ that 15.4-inch, 1440 x 900 CCFL (not LED-backlit) display, HDMI-out and optional slot-loading Blu-ray Disc and 64GB SSD Stateside by morning. This XPS powerhouse packs up to a 2.6GHz Core 2 Duo T7800 processor, 256MB of NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT graphics, 4GB DDR2 memory, and either a 7200RPM 200GB or 5400RPM 320GB SATA disk. Rounding things out are 802.11n WiFi (with built-in WiFi catcher), Bluetooth 2.0, 2 megapixel webcam, and optional HSDPA or EVDO cards. It’s even sporting a panel of touch-sensitive, capacitive controls for your media. Thing is, that rumored 4-pound weight is 5.78-pounds in reality — more if you opt for the 9-cell battery. Still, that weight was always a bit too good to be true for a fully-spec’d, 15-inch laptop.

You can never be too good looking or have too many gigabytes on your person, which is why Buffalo has just announced what it’s touting as the “world’s largest” portable external hard drive, a 320GB dynamo called the MiniStation Turbo USB HD-PS320U2. This 5,400rpm platter features 256-bit AES encryption courtesy of Buffalo’s Secure Lock Ware utility, and Windows users also getting Memeo’s AutoBackup software thrown in to boot. Look for this portable powerhouse next month for around £155 ($319).

It looks like those that prefer their keyboards as unconventional as possible could soon have a new option to consider from Wolf King, which has just seen its latest less-than-ergonomic wonder pass through the FCC. From the looks of it, this one boasts a good deal of similarities to the Wolf Claw keyboard we saw a while back, minus the full-size QWERTY keyboard. That gets replaced by a jumble of keys that could probably be used to actually type something in a pinch, although we’re guessing you’ll want to have another keyboard as a backup. According to the manual, you can also expect a pair of extra USB ports, seven customizable hotkeys and, of course, some blue backlighting to really make it stand out on your desk. No word on a price or release but, as you can see above, it sure looks about ready to roll out the door.
